Hi, I’m Doug Jaser

I began my career primarily interested in creativity and consciousness by studying art and literature in my undergrad. I felt very happy with my studies and the artwork/creative writing I was producing which focused on expressing what I believed were realities and perspectives that did not have a universal acceptance yet were nevertheless valuable and true. During my Junior year, my father had a stroke. This reset my worldview and opened my awareness of just how important our health really is. At times in our lives, something happens, and we get a glimpse of reality on a deeper level than you have previously known. I experienced a glimpse then and it was this, that everything we have in this life is built on the scaffolding of our health.

I did my best to help my father recover and worked with the advice that I was getting from his doctors but was left wondering; other than keeping him alive, what are we trying to do here? Something was missing and I believe that something is a focus on him.  Health is more than the absence of disease. It is more than staying alive for an extra six months or a year. To me, it is about balancing feeling good mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. That is not something that may always be possible for everyone, but it is a lot more possible than many of us realize. I grew to want to make it easier for more people.

Over time I honed a vision of health through understanding oneself, nature, lifestyle interventions, and the paradigm of functional nutrition. I feel that my work is still expressing realities that may not have universal acceptance, yet are nevertheless valuable and true. It has great potential to change people’s lives for the better which brings joy and meaning to my life.

Since my undergrad I have become trained and certified in Personal Training, Integrative Nutrition Coaching through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. I have a specialization in Digestive Health and Health Coaching for Cognitive Decline. I have been doing health/lifestyle coaching since 2011 and have worked at Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy supporting people on choosing natural health products and interventions, and as the Resident Nutrition Coach at Renaissance ClubSport Walnut Creek, CA. I’ve worked with everyone from new mothers to CEO’s of multinational companies on improving their lives with nutrition and lifestyle change.

I was chosen as a health coach and nutrition support practitioner for the Bredeson Recode Study focused on reversing cognitive decline. The results of this study are scheduled to be published sometime in 2021.

I am available virtually through phone or video-call but am located in Walnut Creek, CA. Phone: 925-322-0079

What People Are Saying

Doug helped me in so many ways.  Not only did he give me invaluable advice about how to realistically incorporate healthy eating habits to achieve my fitness goals; he also helped me to find the underlying cause of some of my self sabotage.

His expertise is augmented with kindness and humor so I really enjoyed the sessions.  If you want to affect lasting change in your life, I highly recommend you see Doug for nutritional counseling!

Today I have been reviewing all the emails you sent over to me and am realizing the magnitude of the work you do and the program you offer. Your program and your coaching were terrific. I highly recommend you.  I think you are the best! If I ever get my act together, it will be because of your guidance. I truly am thankful I met you and that we got to work together. It was life-changing.  I am still working on my diet, but have phases of Healthy eating.  Longer and longer.

I’m very impressed with Doug’s nutritional skills.  I decided to have him work on a personalized meal plan for me. The daily caloric intake was well below what I normally eat and I was worried about feeling famished. He has balanced the fat and protein so well that hunger hasn’t been an issue. I have been losing 2 lbs of body fat a week with minimal loss of muscle and I’ve been able to keep increasing the weights in my strength training routine.  I expect to get to my goal of losing twenty pounds one month ahead of schedule. . I’m down to 189 lbs from a starting point of 201. I have no hesitation in recommending Doug’s nutrition services.

Doug has been a big help to me on my way to better health! Through his guidance not only have I lost weight but I’m sleeping better, my joint pain has been reduced, and I feel that I have more energy. I really know now how diet plays a major role in one’s overall health and well-being along with exercise, stress management, and spiritual and social well being. Look forward to working with you again in the future.

Willpower can only get you so far. You need to understand your needs and motivations in order to make change last.

My goal is to help make health improvement as easy as possible for you.

I believe the most effective way to accomplish this is by changing subconscious, daily habits over a long period of time. Your lifestyle is the foundation upon which your health is determined. It is more important than your genetics. Changing your lifestyle is hard. It is well documented that most of us fail to change our diets, exercise more, lose weight, etc.

I will work in partnership with you by blending health education, health coaching, and functional nutrition*. I focus on understanding you: your motivations, your goals, your symptoms, as well as your preferences.

Over time, you will learn how to improve energy production in your cells and balance your digestive ecosystem

I aim to be attuned to your needs. We will work to uncover what is going on for you and devise a plan to get to where you want to be. I will teach you which organs and systems are mostly at play with your health concerns and how to improve their function by adjusting your habits and environment. My approach focuses on partnership so you can show up exactly as you are, knowing that I will not try to push changes on you that you are not interested in. I will explain what is likely happening in your body, the probable causes, and the benefits of certain lifestyle changes. We can discuss the advantages and obstacles to those changes and decide on a plan that works for you. It should be noted that the more change you are willing to make the more positive the results you can expect to see over time.

Improving your lifestyle will lead to a better foundation of health. Investigating what is going on in your body will help us figure out what is getting in the way of even better health. And experimenting with safe lifestyle and supplement options will help us get the most from your efforts.

You may find that you have never been engaged in such a proactive way to improve your well-being. It is my goal that you find making positive lifestyle changes as easy as possible and even enjoyable.
